Dont Get Scammed

Sadly, in today's society there are more and more scam artists out there just waiting to find their next victim. Unfortunately, you usually don't know if you have been scammed until it is too late. But there are some red flags you can look for so you do not fall victim to a scam artist. A huge red flag is if the person and or company insist on you paying before the job is done. Second, if they are not constant on answering questions you ask and lastly if they will not provide you with a free estimate. Every legitimate house painter should provide you with a free estimate.

The task of finding a good and reputable house painter is a lot easier said than done. However, if you do the proper research you follow through with a potential painting company, you more than likely will not fall victim to a house painting scam.

First thing is first you want to do adequate research and investigate a house painter or company before you commit to using them. There are several good questions that can be asked to help you decide whether or not this company and or person are right for the job you need done. Feel free to ask the following questions:

Are you insured and bonded?

What brand of paint would you recommend for my house?

What are your rates and do you require payment upfront? (A good reputable company should not require this. However, if they do, do not pay in full up front. Agree to pay a partial payment after a day or two of service)

What time will you be arriving in the morning and when will you be leaving?

Approximately how long will it take to complete the job?

Will you clean up cigarette butts, and or food wrappers out of my yard?

Another great question you should ask a painting company is to have the numbers of past customers so you can speak to them yourself. Asking for reference is a great way to decide if a company is for you or not. Hopefully, when you speak to these past customers they will give you an honest review about the company. This is probably the best way to find out what kind of work a company really does and if these customers where truly satisfied with the job they preformed.

If you are in need of finding a house painter you should note the above questions to ask when considering a company to use. Also the best sure fire way to find a house painter is simply by asking people you know or looking in your local paper or church. Being armed with these questions and knowing not to pay in full up front you should be able to find a great house painter that does great work. And best of all you won't have to worry about getting scammed or even worse having your house look even worse and hideous than it did before hand.
