Interior paint estimates
When one decides that it is time to paint the interior of his or her home they find out that they will encounter more troubles than they imagined. Some of the basic problems that owners encounter are choosing the color for the different rooms. Since everyone in the household has their own likes and dislikes you may not be able to please everyone. Once you have gotten past choosing the colors (and this includes working out deals with disgruntled members of the family), it is time to decide whether you will paint the rooms yourself or hire someone to do it. If you opt for someone else to paint all your rooms than no problem, just call a contractor to come over and give you an estimate on how much the job will cost. Now there are some key factors that a contractor looks for when giving an estimate.
One of these key factors happens to be the amount of rooms that you the owner want done. The more rooms that you want done the more money that it will cost you. Now this is just basic common knowledge. What many people don’t know is how the contractor decides whether a room is small (less than 10 feet by 10 feet), normal (10 to 14 feet by 10 to 14 feet), or large (15+feet to 15+ feet). The size of a room goes hand and hand with how many rooms the owner wants done. If the contractor has all large rooms to paint than the price will be much greater than a few small and normal rooms.
Another key factor is how much furniture is in each room. See the contractor has to have his men move all the furniture to the center of the room or move it to another room (if they do this they will hopefully move all the furniture to a room that does not need to be painted, because if so, they would just have to move it all over again.). Now sometimes you the owner may already have plans for the furniture. You might have already made the decision to move the furniture into storage during the painting process. Therefore when the painters come to paint they already have less work ahead of them than previously thought. If you are planning to do this then make sure to tell your contractor this so he can make note of it.
One of the most important things that a contractor looks for is how much room there is for his men to leave their equipment. If there is no room to leave the equipment on the site then the workers will have to place it somewhere else. If they spend too much time going back and forth from the work site to their equipment then they lose painting time. And time is money after all so the contractor takes very careful note about this.
So don’t worry too much about the contractors estimate, you can always have another contractor come in and does another one just like it. Just be sure to get the final say for one of the chosen colors.
